The first phase, which began in early 2015, involves two sectoral actions, one relating to the goods traffic facilities, amounting to EUR 12.57 million, and a second aimed at the construction of railways, budgeted more than six million euros. The works of electrical and hydraulic service and improvement of road access will be added to both, so the joint investment of the first phase will exceed 25 million euros. These facilities are on the future railway line Sines - Evora - Badajoz that will link with other corridors that will connect America and Asia (Via Canal de Panamá) with the center of Europe. |

The Logistics Platform will trend such a loading and unloading capacity that it would allow work with 11 trains of 750 meters in length on a daily basis. In addition, badajocense installations would have the added value of uniting 3 different communication routes: AVE, conventional train and road. This first phase, on an area of 60 hectares, will allow Extremadura to have an intermodal logistics hub "first level", connected to the best Portuguese and Spanish communication routes. The Logistics Platform will connect with the Madrid-Lisbon motorway, the future high-speed line and the conventional railway. The railway terminal will be connected to the Badajoz Train Station thanks to a double track that will not affect road traffic. The proximity of Badajoz International Airport allows for the future installation of an Air Cargo Terminal. |
