THE KINGDOM TAIFA OF BADAJOZ The first Gang of Badajoz arose in 1013, as consequence the convulsion produced in Al Andalus by the fall of the Caliphate of Cordova. A slave freedman called Sapur, who had been named in them last moments by Cordova I Cost of The Algarves, he took advantage of the death of the last grandson of Marwan, to be done by the power in the city of Badajoz. He was proclaimed a king independent from the brand who was spreading over the Extremaduras lusa and Spanish woman. Abu Muhammad Abdallah ben Muhammad the-Sapur to the-Saqlabi, was known comummente as Sabur or Sapur. Though his pretension was to control also the Algarve, it dominated the former Lusitania up to the distant limits of the rivera of the Douro. Lisbon, Coimbra, Coria or City Rodrigo, they were the cities that theoretically were defending the periphery of the great kingdom. In the year 1022, to the death of the king, a species takes place at one stroke, for that the rights of the children of Sapur are usurped by the Berber andalusí Abdallah ibn to the-Aftas, which was raised in Master of the kingdom, as Almanzor I of Badajoz. The children of Sapur fled to Lisbon proclaiming there his independence. This situation was kept during a time, until the Aftasíes managed to recover Lisbon and his territory. It supported a few bellicose relations with the neighboring kingdom of Seville. There happened in 1045 his son, Abu Bekr Muhammad to the-Mudaffar, Mudaffar I of Badajoz. This king continued the struggles with the abadíes of Seville to account of the control of Beja and Evora. The Sevillian ones managed to surround the city, while they were plundering to pleasure the surrounding territory. For the north, Fernando I of León and Castile attacked Santaren, gaining Lamego and Viseu and forcing Mudaffar to pay taxes to him and to produce homage. Some of his children, Yahya ben Muhammad happened to the-Mansur between the year 1067 and 1079, as Almanzor II of Badajoz. His brother Abu does not accept it as king, originating a fratricidal war, up to the total victory of this one. Abu Muhammad Omar to the-Muttawakil, queen between 1079 and 1094, when it loses the power to hands of the Almoravids, who it murder near two of his children way of Seville. From this moment the kingdom joins to the discipline of the empire. So many Mudaffar as Al Muttawakil, independietemente of his warlike activities and of government, they gave an exceptional protagonism to the arts and the sciences, emphasizing these activities between those of Al Alandalus. A son of the last king, Umar ibn Muhammad, shelters in the zone of the Serenade during a time, being thought by many as the last one of the aftásidas of Badajoz. After the victory in Ourique of the king Alfonso Enriques and the capture of Coria's city for Alfonso VII of Castile, the domain Almoravid is ruined, in such a way that again Al Andalus's territory was divided in new gangs of short life. In Badajoz he reigned Hacham Abuses between 1144 and 1145. From the death of this one until 1146 the territory was under the control of the Gang of the Al-Gharbía (The) (Algarve). Sidrey is the last master of Badajoz, until in 1146 the almohades conquer and unify the Moslem Roman Spain. Finally Badajoz, it was conquered by the army of Alfonso IX of León in August, 1230. |
